Local Severe Weather Alert for Seattle, WA (98155)
Seattle/bremerton Area
Special Weather Statement in effect
THIS WEEKS DRY WEATHER PATTERN AND EAST WIND WILL INCREASE THE FIRE DANGER
LOW HUMIDITY
IN COMBINATION WITH AN EAST WIND PATTERN
AND MILD AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO CONTINUE THOUGH THIS COMING WEEKEND. THIS WILL INCREASE THE RISK OF WILDFIRES AROUND WESTERN WASHINGTON. THE PROLONGED DRY WEATHER SINCE MID JULY HAS CAUSED ALL FUELS TYPES TO DRY OUT AND ARE RECEPTIVE TO FIRE. THESE DRY CONDITIONS WHEN COMBINED WITH THE STATE OF THE FUELS WILL MAKE IT EASIER FOR ROADSIDE FIRES AND WILD FIRES TO CATCH AND SPREAD AS WE HAVE SEEN IN RECENT WEEKS. EVERYONE IS URGED TO USE EXTRA CAUTION WITH FIRE. THE MAIN CAUSES OF FIRE STARTS ARE:
OUTDOOR BURNING INCLUDING CAMPFIRES BURN-BARRELS AND GRILLS.
BURNING MATERIALS THROWN OUT OF VEHICLES.
VEHICLE TOWING CHAINS DRAGGING ON THE PAVEMENT.
DRIVING OVER DRY FUELS.
FIREWORKS.
