When I was young I was into magic tricks and illusions as a hobby. They were purely visual stimuli that were occasionally mind-blowing novelties. Studying Communication isn't just about learning how to use the tools of mass media, it can send you down a rabbit hole of ethically and legally borderline psychological manipulation. You never see anything quite the same again and every message received is met with skepticism.
You begin to question why you feel the way you do about other groups, cultures, belief systems, behaviors, etc. How were you made to feel the way you do about other races, religions, sexual orientations, etc?
You begin to question what purpose was behind creating those feelings and the answer can only be one: to divide and conquer.
